COVID-19 Vaccine Facts Flyers

Earlier this year, Changing Minds created a frequently asked questions guide for people with lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction, their whānau, and for those working in mental health or addiction services about the COVID-19 vaccine.

It was informed by a survey carried out by Changing Minds, and a knowledge exchange webinar in July 2021 hosted by Dr Edwin Reynolds from the Immunisation Advisory Centre, with support from Whāriki and Equally Well champions.

To supplement this resource we have created a downloadable pdf pack of vaccination facts for tāngata mātau ā-wheako.

Why have we created this resource?

A recent review of vaccination data conducted by the Ministry of Health has found that people using specialist mental health and addiction services have lower rates of vaccination relative the New Zealand population. This divide is even greater for those accessing alcohol and drug services, and for Māori and Pacific peoples.

Ensuring our community has access to trustworthy and accurate information about the COVID-19 vaccine is important to us. We have made these flyers  available to everyone supporting loved ones and their communities in choosing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Changing Minds are driven by the pursuit of equitable wellbeing for all of Aotearoa. We acknowledge that choosing to receive the vaccine is informed by our lived experiences and journeys through mental health and/or addiction. We hope to empower our tāngata mātau ā-wheako by providing trusted and reliable information to inform and support their kōrero around the COVID-19 vaccine.
