Te Whare Tapa Whā Worksheets

Te Whare Tapa Whā is a way of thinking about our wellbeing that resonates with a lot of our Changing Minds whānau.

Te Whare Tapa Whā was developed by leading Māori health advocate Sir Mason Durie in 1984. The model describes health and wellbeing as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls.

If we think of ourselves like the house; we are strongest when the roof, walls, and foundations are all looked after. Just like we’d use different tools to look after a real house, it’s important we have a range of tools and ideas in our kete to look after each ‘wall’ of our wellbeing. We encourage you to take time to reflect gradually, at a pace that feels nourishing for you.
